We began our tour on 15th of August, at 04.00 am.
Our way brought us through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and to France, where we slept in the
car before we could go to the ferry to Dover.
We arrived at 10.00 am in Dover, there has been fine weather, sunny and warm. We drove to Beachy Head, where we´ve spent a wonderful
night last year in the Birling Gap hotel near the coast.
A nice walk with Cinderella and her first bath in the sea. Later we relaxed in the
bar.
The next day we drove forward to the west, always on the south coast and it has been absolutely great. Our
way leaded us through Brighton – Portsmouth – Hythe to Weymouth. Near Easton we could see the British Army’s “Red Arrows”, what a fantastic
flight Show!
We´ve spent our next night near Bridport.
On Thursday we drove to the north, where we´ve been invited by Alison Hornsby and her “Bekkis” Border
collies. It has been a very impressive afternoon for us: what wonderful collies having such wonderful
characters. Hal and Geordie were absolutely great. We´ve learned a lot and heard a lot. Thank you, Alison, for this fantastic
hours and our lovely conversation!
Later this day we drove to Wales and spent a nice evening in a pretty little city named “Usk”. The
hotel there has been great.
On Friday we drove further to the north for seeing the Welsh National Trial. We´ve met Alan Jones, who
became runner-up on Thursday, and who once trained me and Daisy. How nice of him to moderate us the following
starters.
In the evening we drove near Builth Wells, where the WKC has been held on Saturday.
We´ve met Della and Rich, Daisy's breeder. We could meet Diva, Daisy's sister, again, who looks so much like her (and our
hearts burned, again) and who is so pretty.
A wonderful tricolour girl catched my eyes and later the focus of my camera. I´ve asked the nice
lady on the other side of her lead for pictures. Later I learned that it has been Ann Stacey. She has been very nice to me and told me a lot about her
collies.
Thank you for the pictures and information, Ann! Hope, You will have a homepage, soon.
We had to leave the show and go to Keith Hartley und Marie Jordan, where we´ve been invited and have spent a wonderful
evening with a wonderful diner and wine. Hours rushed enormously fast and we had to leave Cinderella after she has met Khan in the
morning. They both fell immediately in love with each other so that it has been a bit easier to leave her with Marie, until she has been mated to Khan.
Sunday has been no good day for both of us, so we drove to the south coast, again. We´ve had a very nice
evening in Brighton in a wonderful hotel with view onto the sea. We drove to Beachy Head the next
morning, have spent a last very nice day there before we´ve left the UK on Tuesday morning. Gernot drove the whole 1.250 km from Calais to our
home and we´ve arrived at 03.30 am on Wednesday morning.
It has been another wonderful stay in the UK, we´ve met very nice
people, again, seen very impressive Border collies on the trial field and in the
show ring.
We couldn´t do so without helping hands at
home:
Manu and Wolfi, who looked so well after the cats, Giacomo, the kois and our house.
Claudia, where Beverly has spent her holidays. I am sure, she didn´t notice we weren´t with her.
Babs and Alex, who had our little witch Daisy. You´ve trained her on sheep during this
time and this has been the best to let her forget.
We will come, again. You live in such a wonderful
country. I can´t wait to meet other Border collies in such high quality and wonderful
temperament, again.
Lisi and Gernot
