Our first and biggest "Thank You" to Gernots Mum, Lotte, who enabled us this
trip and holidays. Without her it wouldn´t have been possible to go for holidays, because she was
babysitter for Beverly, Chili, the cats, the sheep and Giacomo and the house. Thank you so much and a big
hug for you, Mum!
We began our tour on Friday, 15th of August, to stopp in Düsseldorf, Germany, for a
visit at the German Obedience Championship to meet Gypsy and his owner Uschi. It was wonderful to meet you again. Uschi showed us some
lessons that Gypsy already does and loves. It is lovely to see you both together and how much Gypsy adores you, Uschi!
We started on Sunday early in the morning to go to Denmark and arrived in the afternoon at the beautiful Sanddorberne
campsite near Horve.
As the school holidays were over, we´ve had enough place there and decided to stay in the first
row, directly at the sandy beach with a breath taking watch from the mobile home. Daisy, Tally and Grace loved to play and run at the
beach, where nearly no people were seen or they played in the water. It was really, really lovely there. We had some
kind of fence for the dogs around the camper, so that the dogs could play and run without being hold at a
lead, which was wonderful.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we´ve had bad weather with stormy winds and rain, so we relaxed and slept a lot, which we needed so much.
But when the weather didn´t change on Thursday morning, we decided to drive to the
middle of the island, Holbaek and hoped for less wind.
We found a lovely campsite at the edge of Holbaek, very calm, no wind and the weather was fine. It was not directly at the
beach, but all we hoped for some time to spend outside the camper and we could take our
bikes to go into the beautiful little town Holbaek to spend the afternoon with shopping and having some
coffee.
On Saturday in the morning we had to leave and went to Kirke Hyllinge, where the
Danish Club Championship took place the whole weekend.
We found the place on a big farmers ground, where the herding, agility, obedience,
dogdance and shows have been on big fields.
When we parked our mobile home, we were expected already by Alison and Bob Tunnicliffe, our
friends from England.
What a nice "Welcome" again! We were so glad to see them both again to spend the whole
weekend together.
When Bob saw Tally, who was absolutely out of coat, he told me that he saw no chance for him at the
show that day and I would have nearly taken him back of the show but didn´t do it for godness;-)))
The weather was bad for the whole first day, it rained from the morning until the
evening, what a pity for the Danish Border Collie club!
Breed specialist Heather Turner ("Lochiel") from the UK was judging on Saturday.
Grace was the first to compete and she won the puppy class (6-9 Months), although she has got 6 Months two
days before, so very young. She stood nicely but the running was horrible - ash on my
head, it has been my fault as i didn´t train her well enough! She also won best
puppy in show!
Tally was entered in intermediate class and won! Then we went back again into the
challenge class (Winner of intermediate and open class to compete for the CC, the
award for the Danish champion) and Tally won again! We had to come back for a third
time to compete for the best in intermediate and Tally did it again! It was just unbelievable!
On Saturday evening we were invited to the clubs yearly gala diner, where we were spoilt with all the exquisit
Danish food at a buffet. It was great there.
And we had the chance to talk to Emmy, owner of Dk champion, Int. champion Whenway Decorated Hero "Robbie", who is
grandfather to Daisy and Tally and to meet him also. We know each other for a few
years now, but haven´t had the chance to see in a flesh, so we were very happy.
On Sunday the weather was fine and we´ve had the chance to see some runs of the
herding trial before we had to prepare everything for the second show. We didn´t expect anything after this wonderful
successes on Saturday so I was nearly relaxed.
Judge was breed specialist Jo Ratcliffe ("Grandver") from England and Grace was the first to compete.
She did well although she didn´t show her movement at all again (which is my Fault and not hers). Grace won
puppyclass and again best puppy in show!
Tally did also well, showed his movement and stood lovely although his coat didn´t come back over
night;-))) Tally won intermediate class and again the challenge so he took his second
award for the Danish champion! And to top all this he again went best intermediate at
show!!!
We were so proud of Grace and Tally. Grace, who was not trained well enough to show her
qualities in movement, but she couldn´t hide her overall qualities so that some of the
people congratulated to this lovely and beautifl puppy bitch. Tally, who was out of
coat, but showed his virtues in movement and breed type. We want to thank both judges for their nice
words about our dogs!
It has been a great day, maybe the biggest day in the "Of Green Borderline" family to date and also a great
day for the "grandparents" of Grace and Tally, Alison and Bob, because not only them were successful but also Littlethorn Ruy, owned by Inge Lisa and Eric Ussing, gained the
obedience champions title!
On Sunday Evening Gernot and me were invited by the chairman of the Danish Border Collie
club, Erik and his wife, Inge Lisa Ussing, to spend the evening together and to have
diner with them.
Alison and Bob were there too and we had a lovely evening and diner with some bottles of
red wine, my home made schnaps and a bottle of the winner champagne.
On Monday morning we again were invited to a special brunch with Danish breakfast and a wonderful
run at the beautiful lake behind the house.
Thank you so much for your lovely invitation, Inge Lisa and Erik!
It was just wonderful to spend time with you both and it was nice to meet you, we do hope to keep in
touch with each other.
We had to drive home then and it was a long, tiresome trip home, but we arrived safely and without any
problems, having all good thoughts, lovely memories and this great successes in our
mind!
We do hope to come to Denmark again next year, it was a wonderful holiday where we met good old
friends and new, lovely people.
