My dreams have been come true and I could travel to England to visit Crufts this
year. I have been travelling per motor caravan through half of Germany, Belgium and France to arrive Wednesday in Dover.
As I´ve found a site in Folkestone, I stayed there overnight to drive to Canterbury the next
morning. Canterbury! A wonderful city with marvellous shops and the cathedral.
I drove to Hastings and then to "Beachy Head" to visit the little hotel at the coast, where we have been staying overnight in September. Got a bit sad, when I sat there with my
coffee, at the same place as last year with Gernot, felt really alone in this moment. Drove further to London to stay at a
site in Dunham.
Thursday morning I drove near Birmingham to a private
site near the NEC. Friday in the very early morning I drove to the NEC, but no stress, got a wonderful
parking place there and had enough time to drink my coffee before entering to the
show. It took me the whole Friday to do the shopping and looking for the breeds being shown there. At Saturday I went to Knowle, a beautiful little
city, to have a shopping trip and went to the hairdresser to make me as pretty as possible for the
show at Sunday!
Sunday Morning I drove very early to the NEC to have enough
time for a good coffee in the caravan while looking the exhibitors having a lot of
stress running to the halls.
When I entered hall 1 with the border collies, I have been very impressed of 400 (!!!)
border collies there, seeing so many famous owners and breeders. I have met Della and Rich Lucas,
breeder of Daisy, again and have been very happy being able to talk to them, again and to tell them, how happy we are with little Daisy, the
sunshine in our life.
It was a bit difficult for me to decide of being at which
ring, because dogs and bitches have been judged at the same time.
I have been very impressed of the bitch taking the CC, a wonderful tricolour girl: "Dorvale Nice Tri". Dog CC and BOB took Mr. Ross Green with his famous "Tonkory Palmerston at Fayken", an absolutely great
dog.
It has been very sad that Mrs. Penny Foster-Cooper has been absent after the fire at her
cottage and the lost of 8 of her beloved dogs, can´t believe it until today.
It has been absolutely great to talk to so many people there, meeting Mary Jordan with Khan, again.
Monday morning I drove in direction to London and further to Dover, taking the Eurotunnel, after the
people of "P&O Ferries" have been in strike. But the travel through the tunnel has been wonderful and very short. After 35
minutes I arrived at Calais, again.
"Some hours" of driving at Tuesday took me home, again and I arrived at 11 pm safe and healthy at my
house, my husband Gernot and the girls waiting for me. This welcome at home said to me, to travel never ever again, alone.
England, you have been fantastic a second time and we will come, again. You are in my
heart and will be forever! |
